I see an “exclamation mark” icon on the display
This article will help you learn more about how to troubleshoot most common issues that that cause an exclamation mark appear on the screen of the SMART Unit.
If the SMART Unit encounters a problem when attempting to initiate rotation of the SMART motor, you’ll see an “exclamation mark” inside a circle on the screen.
This guide will help to identify what the problem is and provide the troubleshooting steps to get it resolved.
Restart the SMART Unit
The first thing to try is restarting the SMART Unit.
Carefully unplug the the switch on the SMART Unit and then the power supply from the mains. Plug the Chef SMART grill into a power source again.
Tightening the chain
Once you’ve tried restarting the SMART Unit but the exclamation mark icon appears on the screen maybe the chain mechanism is what causing the issue. Chains tend to loosen and “stretch” over time, that is normal.
To tighten the chain you will need the following tools:
- a 10mm open end wrench,
- and a 4mm hex key.
Using the above tools, loosen the last screw located on the right hand side of the chain mechanism. Then move the screw right along the oval hole until the chain tightens. Then tighten the screw again on its new position.
For more information on the troubleshooting and maintenance of the chain mechanism see the Chain mechanism maintenance guide.
